We all seem to love our pets! We put up with all the hair, the litter boxes, the messes they make.

We walk them, we brush them, bathe them. Spend untold millions on food, treats, snacks and toys.

And what do we get in return?

For many our blood pressure goes down, our health improves, we smile more.

For some they give us something to talk about, and someone to talk to!

For a lot of us these fur kids give us a reason to get up and move around.

They are company for us and a constant source of amusement.

They give us unconditional love!

Our pets...... if they bark, meow, chirp, whinny, snort or mooo.

Our pets...... with hair, fur, feathers, warts or scales.

Our pets..... they do a body good!!!

Thank you God, for our pets!!

But she goes by Spit Spott, or Silly Cat. Or her full name is Spott Silly Cat Brewer. Other wise known as THE QUEEN!

Just a purrrrrrfect lap warmer. Hate to tell ya, but the first thing I noticed were your toes! We both have the same type of toes. I just started purrrrrring to see that I had found a match. You made my day!

Sure are toe twins!! Don't think you want to trade though. Those danged toes have gotten me into alot of trouble over time. Have the longest one next to big toe on left foot as a hammertoe, and that big toe has a big bunion. The solid oak furniture has been the stopper for the rest of the toes that ran into that darned hard oak, fractures up the yang, yang over the years. I used to love to go barefoot in the house, got over that finally.

Also, each foot is a different size. I have always had a problem with closed toe shoes. Only wear Echo open toe shoes now, expensive. I have worn the same pair now for more than 3 years, day in and day out. Yea, I know...don't go anywhere much anymore, so it really doesn't matter. Picture?? Will see what I can do about that.

Wow! we are to much alike!!! My little toes use to point a different direction every week or so when I was younger. Hadn't broke one of them in a very long until about a month ago and WOW broke the left little toe!!! Hubby moved the vacuum and I wasn't paying attention. MAN that hurt!!! But it is straighter then it has ever been!! lol And I have the one foot bigger then the other too!!! Almost have to buy two different size shoes. But I still love to go barefoot. Don't do it as much outside as I use to but never keep shoes on inside. I just hate to ware shoes that I can't take of, my feet get very hot! So I don't ware shoes with heals in them much!!

Ok so if we by one pair of shoes, you take the heals and I'll take the toes and we'll be good!! cool!!

I made a big mistake when I was younger. I had a Ford Fairlane. There was a tragedy that involved a friend, and in my grief I hopped in that car barefoot, and wasn't paying attention. Got hit headon at a bridge entrance, and metal went up through the floorboard into my left foot, and metatarsals and other bones in that foot busted, now I have neuropathy in my feet, working up the ankles. Don't feel much. Pelvis and other fractures, but I'm so damned stubborn that I lived to prove them wrong, and that I would walk again. Hello, all you nay sayers, body broken but not the spirit and 24/7 brainpower. Is tenacity great Etta???

The Lord gave us anomalities in body, but enhanced our Spirit and brainpower, wouldn't you agree??

BTW, my Echo shoes are the open sandals with velcro straps, no heel backs for me either.

Oh my!! That sounds like a bad accident!! Thank God you lived through it!! And you have lived in the true Spirit!!! And thank you for that!! And yes, the Lord gave us so many gifts that most people never even know about much less have to use! Our brain is an amazing gift!! And some of us are given the grace and "Spirit" to use what he gave us.

I was given a year to live when I was 9 years old. It was a degenerative bone disease. Well needless to say I beat those odds, as I'm now 56, but it left it's mark on the old body. I was told last year that my neck is in very bad shape. When the Dr ask me what I was going to do....... yea, he ask me. I told him I guess I'd get a basket to carry my head around in when it falls off!!!! LOL

My back has given me grief all of my life but if I had listened to the "DR's" all those years ago I would have been dead years ago, with no children, no grand children, and no life what so ever. They told me not to lift anything over 20 lbs, that I'd never have kids, and basically that I would be an invalid for the rest of my life. Well 4 kids and 14 grand kids later, I'm still working, and living a pretty good life! I have my limits but I'm not about to lay down and die!

BTW, the Sea Doo ride last night was most likely NOT a great idea, but what the hay! My bone cracker can put it back for now!! LOL

My God tells me that ALL things are possible!!! And he has never let me down!

And I still ware heels sometimes but Uncle Arthur has found his way to the bottom of my feet too so I don't stay in them very long. And I can keep the old Uncle at bay to some extent with the right supplements. Another of God's gifts!!

We will just have to pray for each other and encourage each other!!

God bless,

Angie

Never had cats growing up and never cared for them in the least bit... Then...8 years ago, my youngest daughter brought home a "free" barn kitten that cost me hundreds to get rid of his ear mites, intestinal parasites and of course his declawing and neutering.

Funny, I never regretted taking him in, he's been a wonderful pet and an excellent companion to the Maltese we got a few years back.

I know! I feel kind of bad about that, but between a really busy schedule and a slight case of writer's block I haven't been on the vine much lately. Mther and I are working on a new STFU article, but we probably won't publish it for at least another week.

And I missed Foto Friday yesterday because of my schedule, but I'll have one up there next week! I got the chance to meet mther on Tuesday and we have a real zany shot to brag about that I will publish on this coming Foto Friday!

I am gonna check out the porch to see what's going on over there!!

Bless you too EttaJames! Yes, your kitty is a sweetie. I adore my cats, (Narcissus aka Cissy 14 yrs Sealpoint Siamese. Tsunami 10 yrs Russian Blue/manx.) I can't remember ever having been without a cat, my whole life. (60 yrs now). I'm not sure I'd be able to survive without one. I have RA, so sometimes, getting in and out of bed is a real moan/groan affair. My girls are right there loving up to me, giving me kisses and acting very worried that mom is okay. ♥

I don't have cats...allergic to them :( I do have a 4 year old Shih Tzu who is spoiled rotten, tho' so I can relate to your article. He can make my husband & my day!

When I was a teenager, Dad came home with a stray kitten that he found on the farm. She was supposed to be my sister's pet, but Cat (yeah, real original name, huh?) decided she was mine. I would be sitting on one end of the couch, her on the other, and next thing you know, my eyes are swollen & tearing up, my nose is running & I am sneezing. Or I would wake up in the morning & she would be laying on the pillow next to me. AAARRRGGGHHH!! She managed to live 17 years and had 2 litters of kittens.

LOL cute. Cats are funny cause you don't decide to own them, in their view, THEY decide to own you. Mine is like that. She orders me around. If she wants food, she doesn't beg like a dog, she meows in a particular tone that says, give me food or else! If she wants to go outside and I'm still sleeping past a certain time, she will sit on my chest and knead me and will not leave me alone until I'm awake.

However, when I wanna pet her or see her, she makes herself scarce. She only comes when she wants something. Cats are spoiled brats for sure.

LOL woodchip, I can relate for sure! I have the cat and a house dog. They both are mine BUT don't try and tell them that cause they just know that they belong to my husband!!!

The dog won't let me set next to him............... she has to get between us and the cat... oh my. She will only sit in my lap never his but she sleeps as close to him as she can get, yea and he is Mr "I won't have an animal sleep on my bed" HA!! I taught her not to get on the bed because of him................. then HE says " well if she would stay down at the end of the bed that might not be so bad"!! Yea right, she sleeps where ever she wants and most of the time that is right between us!! He is the reason that both of them are rotten!!

And cats are just their own creatures! They do as they please and when they please for sure!!

Thank you both for stopping by!!

God Bless!

The dog won't let me set next to him............... she has to get between us and the cat...

True story.

About two, three yrs ago I got set up on a blind date by a friend. Normally I don't do this but I said, fine, why not? After about a month of dating, she still hadn't invited me in her house. She would stay over at mine but wouldn't invite me to hers. No huge deal to me but still peculiar.

One night I asked her and it turned out she had a pit bull who was very territorial. Not aggressive as in she would rip my head off if I touched her mama but still would try to get in the way and it had caused problems in her dating life before. The pit's name was I believe Akira.

Anyway she finally invited me in and for the most part Akira and me got along. She let me pet her, licked me. I have always been able to make a good impression on dogs. Sometimes I'll pet one on the street when I see one and the owners say that were I anyone else the dog would have bitten me.

A lot of people think that just cause an animal is domesticated, it's automatically tame. Far from the truth. Animals live by a very strict set of instinctual rules. Violate those rules, you are bound to get bitten or worse mauled.

One of those very strict rules is that if something bigger than them approaches, no matter how well intentioned, they go into defense mode. So when I meet a dog, I show it the proper respect by crouching. It puts me at eye level and they don't see me as threatening.

Another rule is not to look them in the eyes. Dogs take that as a challenge. You dare to look a bear in the eyes in the woods. You're telling them "You ain't so tough." They'll break your back for that.

And of course as with a human, you have to introduce yourself and watch for the signs of aggression. You extend your hand slowly and let them sniff you. It's the equivalent of shaking their hand only in dogs they can tell a lot more about you than just how nice you smell.

Anyway back to the story.

Akira's one major pet peeve (no pun intended ) is that she didn't like anyone, including her mom on the couch. That was hers and hers alone. If you sat on it, she'd pester you until you got off, especially if we were cuddling on there LOL.

One day about a month later my gf had to stay late so I took Akira out for a walk, and I guess it was the moment we bonded. I took her to the park, fed her treats, we played frisbee which she loved and a good catcher too.

I brought her home and it because it had been scorching hot out, I was tired so I sat on the couch and next thing I know I was asleep. Maybe 3 hrs later I wake up and I feel someone pressed up against me. In my half asleep state I thought it was Liz that had cuddled up against me, so I put my hand around her and to my surprise all I feel is fur. I open my eyes and lo and behold, Akira had not only allowed me the privilege of her couch but had cuddled up for a nap with me.

I fell back asleep and Liz came home an hour later to find me cuddling with another female on the couch LOL

What a sweet story! It's nice to know some people understand proper strange dog etiquette. The only thing I would add is ask the owner for permission first, please!

Well, of course I ask owner first, at a distance. But ultimately it's the dog that gives me final permission. Even from a few feet, if you're watching for signs, you can tell if the dog is people friendly or not. Fortunately like I said, I haven't met a dog yet that doesn't like me. I must smell good LOL

Very true, you gotta look at all signs combined. Snarling, raising their snout. Looking you in the eyes means they're challenging you. Wagging tail from a strange dog simply means alert alert alert!!!

That's one pitty kitty you got there! Makes me want to rush home and give mine a few squishes, kisses, and pets! I sure do love my little balls of fur. My male, Giles, sleeps on a pillow above my head at night and I can't fall asleep without him there.

A few years ago, someone left our back door open and he slipped out. He was missing for a few days and it was so lonely without him sleeping above me at night! Then, one Saturday morning, my husband woke up early in the morning to get some water and there he was! Sitting on the kitchen floor kinda in shock. We have NO IDEA how he got back in the house so the running joke is that he was abducted by aliens! Poor kitty probably got probed!

Great story Andrew!!!

I have one similar.... but she was a Neapolitan mastiff. Started dating her dad and he was very proud of the fact that she was a highly trained guard dog. She would not take food from anyone but him. A fact that he loved to show off by having someone offer her a t-bone, she would not take it!

I had been to his house about three times and had met the dog, her head covered my thigh bone when she put it down on my leg. And we had played one time and she had totally slimed the entire front of my shirt! One evening I pulled up and she was behind a fence so I walked up to talk and stuck my hand through the gate and scratched under her chin....... and came away with a hand covered with mud!!! So I knock on the door with my hand held out.... and he says what happened and I say will I gave Kelsey a scratch under the chin..... Oh my he was UPSET! "I can't believe she did that!!! You should not be able to touch her!! And through the fence!! " So I say *with a devilish grin* "so... got a t-bone?" lol

She did let me feed her some weeks later but he was sick at my house. He was upset that time too cause she came in the house with me and ate and then I put her back outside.

Now I have seen this dog stand on hind legs and put her front feet on top of the cab of a full size pickup. And if she got after your tires when you were in a veh that was a moving experience!!! And she took my 10 year old son, who was running at her dad because he had been ask to bring him a tool, so tool in hand he takes off running, she took hold of him at the waist and laid him on the ground...... not a mark on him.... on growl or bark, just laid him down and walked off. But she stopped the threat (as she perceived it) to her dad!!

But I loved the time I leaned over her to kiss him good by and she reached up and bit... him ;-)

Dogs are the best judge of man!!!

LOL good girl!! She knew you two were breaking up and she was telling him in her own way; YOU IDIOT!! Hold on to that one!!

Let me give you a little back story about Mischa, my cat. 5 yrs ago I was married for about 2 yrs. We wanted a pet and got a dog, we called him Bruno. Beautiful shelter dog, sadly he was a bit too happy go lucky. We tried to train it, we really did but he just caused a mess at our place. The straw that broke the camel's back was when we got home one time and he had literally torn through our entire mattress and well into the base. Needless to say we had no choice but give him back to the shelter.

A few months later a friend of mine from work had a female cat who was having a litter. She was looking for homes for the kittens and I figure I'd surprise my wife so I signed up for one. 3 months later after they were weaned off mama, I went to choose which one I'd take home. Now I had never been much of a cat person but the moment I saw Mischa, I chose her. The other kittens as cute as they were, had plain colors, gray and white and brown and white. Mischa as I said is a Calico Tabby so she's got all the colors in the spectrum.

When I got her home I put her on my wife's chest while she was sleeping, she opened her eyes and there was the baby nuzzling her, they immediately bonded. As I said, never was much of a cat person so the girls bonded, wherever mama went, Mischa was right behind.

About a year plus later, we ended things. My ex moved out and didn't wanna take Mischa until she was settled in her new place. It took her about a month. One day she calls and says she's coming to pick Mischa up. I said sure.

She comes in, we talked and drank and then it was time to go. Somehow Mischa knew she was being taken away and somehow she knew she had to pick a home fast.

Next thing I know, she runs away from mama as she was being picked up and jumps on me. Shock doesn't begin to express what I felt. That this tiny creature would choose me over someone else. She's been my best buddy ever since.

As I said. Cats choose their owners. LOL
